Aero Vodochody Firefighters in 2024: Nearly One-Third Increase in Emergency Responses Outside the Company Premises

Vodochody, February 20, 2025 – The corporate firefighters of AERO Vodochody AEROSPACE had a demanding year in 2024. As part of the Central Bohemian Region’s Integrated Rescue System, they responded to 187 incidents outside the company premises, representing an almost 30% year-over-year increase in interventions.

The Aero firefighting team was dispatched to 106 traffic accidents, marking a 51% increase compared to the previous year. Additionally, firefighters responded to 28 fires, which is 22% fewer than in 2023. During these emergency calls outside the company, they treated 79 injured individuals, a 43% increase from the previous year. In total, they were deployed 187 times, a 28% rise compared to 2023.

Beyond emergency response, the company’s fire brigade focused on modernizing equipment and developing specialized skills. “Last year, we prioritized the safety of our firefighters by upgrading protective gear, including intervention suits, helmets, and part of our climbing and medical equipment. We also renewed breathing apparatus and protective masks,” said Oldřich Martinák, commander of Aero’s firefighting unit, who has been serving in Vodochody for 36 years.

Among the key investments was the acquisition of new measuring equipment for dynamic testing of breathing masks and lung-operated regulators, as well as the replacement of an outdated CO2 fire suppression trailer. Another major focus was first aid training, with Aero firefighters actively participating in training sessions for Aero employees’ medical response teams.

The Aero Vodochody Fire and Rescue Service is an integral part of the company. In addition to ensuring fire safety, first aid, and flight operations support at the Vodochody company airport, the firefighters actively assist in major emergencies within the Central Bohemian Region, including fires, traffic accidents, and industrial disasters.

Under an agreement with the Central Bohemian Region, Aero firefighters cover a 15-kilometer response zone, ensuring an average response time of under 10 minutes. The professional team operates 24/7, providing round-the-clock protection.
